Gallstones in Ayurveda: Symptoms and Treatment

Pittashmari, also called gallstones, are hardened clumps of digestive fluid that can form in your gallbladder due to an imbalance of pitta. The gallbladder maintains the digestive fluid called bile secreted into the little intestine to break down fats into fatty acids. Pittashmari can hinder bile ducts. It can also lead to inflammation that causes infections in the common bile duct. By themselves, gallstones aren’t painful; but when they block bile juice movement, they become painful.

Gallstones can be any size, from the size of a rice grain to that of a golf ball. The number of stones varies from person to person too.

Two main types of gallstones form in the gallbladder:

  1. Cholesterol gallstones are the most common pittashmari type. Often yellowish, gallstones are clumps of cholesterol sedimenting in the bile duct.
  2. Pigment gallstones are dark brown or black in color and form when your bile has high bilirubin levels.

A diet rich in fats or not getting enough exercise can increase your cholesterol and lead to obesity. This can improve the chances of cholesterol gallstones developing in your bile duct. Gallstones are more common among older people or those diagnosed with (or with a family history of) obesity, diabetes, or IBS. Pittashmari is also more typical in women.

Here are some additional factors that can lead to pitta imbalance

  1. Medicine to lower cholesterol
  2. Losing weight rapidly
  3. Fasting or irregular meals

Most people with gallstones do not show symptoms, which is unusual because they tend to appear later in life. Pittashmari that do not show symptoms are silent gallstones. Even if there are no gallstone symptoms, visiting an expert Ayurvedic doctor for an annual check-up is a good idea.

There are some telltale signs of pittashmari. Pain around the liver area, right shoulder or back, acidity, vomiting, upset stomach, fever, and clay-colored stools are some symptoms. Pittashmari also causes diarrhea and jaundice. If irregular bowel movements last over three months, it could also indicate chronic bladder illness.

Gallbladder stone treatment in Ayurveda is quite extensive. For centuries, Ayurvedic medications have been used to reduce gallstone symptoms. Methods like dietary changes, vitamins, medicines, yoga, etc., can lessen the effects of pittashmari.

Yoga is also extremely beneficial for gallstone management. You can do many asanas to stabilize pitta flow and prevent gallstones. With the help of poses like Vajrasana, Pawanmuktasana, Dhanur asana, and Narayan asana, the gallbladder can be inwardly soothed, and bile accumulation can be avoided. This can lessen uncomfortable gallstone symptoms and reduce stress. It is also helpful to relieve stress by using relaxation methods like meditation.

A highly suggested gallbladder stone treatment for pittasmari is choosing a liquid diet. Liquids can flush out excess cholesterol and reduce gallstones. You can also avoid greasy, fried, and fattening foods like pizzas, pakoras, and fried chicken. This will maintain healthy cholesterol levels in your blood.

Herbs like kalonji and kali mirch can also keep pittashmari at bay. The traditional herbal remedy for gallstones, kalonji, is high in the antioxidant thymoquinone. Mixing kalonji seeds

with honey or drinking kalonji oil with warm water on an empty stomach dissolves gallstones.

Black pepper, or kali mirch, has medicinal grades that control bile secretions and improve liver and gallbladder functioning. Warm water mixed with black pepper powder before meals improve digestion, decreases cholesterol and eases gallstone pain.

It’s imperative first to understand the underlying cause of this disease. It is best to start treating gallstone symptoms immediately because pittasmari can be a long-term problem.

The rigor of the gallstone disease determines the length of the Ayurvedic therapy and the quantity of medication required. So, contacting an Ayurvedic Clinic, Ayurvedic Doctor in Cippenham by phone or video chat or visiting your nearby Ananta Ayurveda as soon as possible is important.
